Recap -- April 2016

Who loves April? April definitely not my favorite month ever. There's no public holidays on this month and although April Fool sounds fun, we still don't get any off day on this day. When first day of April hit, some of my coworkers were too careful during their day..they hope for zero tricks or hoax on them. While for me, I almost forgot April Fool and never have the chance to play fun tricks on my coworkers. Although in the mid afternoon, I did sent a message to Ken that I was having serious stomachache till he got so anxious..that was fun! Maybe you will start questioning, did he got mad of me with those fool? YES, he did!! haha..well, still fun!

1)We went for cafe-hopping a lots this few weeks. Ken moved to his site office in east, and he was very busy with his new project. Most of the weekend, he have to work too. I did a few searches on Google and find quite a numbers of cafes which is work-friendly, allowing customers to stay and read/work. As for me, I'm on my wife-duty every weekend..to sit with him while he does his work. Sounds boring duty, but I managed to do some reading :)

2)New semester started again!! Final semester for my Diploma course!! Yahoooooo..(insert high pitch sound) I'm so done with assignments/projects/school works/tests and tests. Life never being such an easy with full-time job and night classes 3 times a week. On the positive side, I'm so happy to be able to meet with my classmates again. All of us have our own families and jobs, no one got times to meet up during semester break. So attending night classes together is fun!

3)Another round of 10km running event - Coney Island Trial Run 2016. Such a painful run as both of us never did well in training before the real run. I got terrible flu and cough for almost a week before the run. But, we still managed to finish the race and proudly receiving our finisher medals. Oh, and Coney Island is such a beautiful place! If you're in Singapore or planning to stop by this country for a while, do visit this island.

4)Currently I'm reading "The Best Thing That Never Happened To Me" by Laura Tait & Jimmy Rice. This is my second novel of the year..I'm a terribly slow reader..currently on page 146 out of 357. Half to go!

5)Ken and I were trying to wake up early starting from this month onwards. Last time, he always late for work as I snoozed my alarms too many times and reluctant to wake up. He fetched me to work every morning, such a good husband. Well, I change now...*fingers crossed* I tried to sleep early and wake up early...not to laze in bed too long to avoid any lateness. So far..so good :)

Coney Island Trial Run 2016 - 10km

It's been a while..

How's ya doing? Hope everything is fine.

Ken and I went for Coney Island Trial Run on 16 April 2016, which was 2 weeks before. We registered for the run since mid March which was after Green Corridor Run, aiming to keep our running enthusiasm as long as possible. I never expected that daily works & flu viruses ruined our stamina to continue training before the run..both of us never really train well before the exact day.

Now, you may imagine how suffer we are during the running day? As if I was dragging myself along the trail path.

Coney Island or previously known as Pulau Serangoon, is a 133 hectare island located off the northeastern coast of Singapore within the town of Punggol. Coney Island can be accessible via two bridges connecting from the mainland.

This was our first time entering Coney Island. I was surprised by how wonderful and clear air that Coney Island offers. The island is peaceful, fills with forest full of trees..as if I was entering to the another world away from the urban. The island is divided into a few attractions but since we were there for 10km, we did not have the time and chance to explore more. Surely, we will be visiting again..

We were late for our run, as we estimated wrong timing and I spent some times in washroom due to stomachache. We did managed to catch up some participants/runners after a while..but majority of time we walked (in a faster speed). After an hour, the sun came out and we spent another good hour walking-tanning under the scorching hot sun. Till today, I still have my tan with me.. :)

Along this 10km, there were only 2 water stations, which is terrible. Both of us were dehydrated after passed 7km, I almost nearly gave up! Ken was the person who stood beside me, encouraging me to the finish line. I was blessed to have a partner like him :)

Honestly, I got sore muscle on the second day. Looking back, I was lucky to have Ken who shares same interests with me and went through thick and thin together as one. Without his encouragements, I will never ever finished any of the running events we went last time. :)

-Never give up. Great things take time-

Stolen Bike's Engine & Trying to be Positive

*comfort food*

Last Saturday, our bike's engine being stolen by some "asshole" thief/thieves.

Ken and I went to Clarke Quay on the same night. He met up with his friend while I celebrated birthday with a few coworkers. My night was fun, we went to Buffet Town for dinner and Shuffle Bistro Bar for some beers. Ken had fun too catching up with his friend since they haven't meet since half year ago. Ken and I went home separate ways, I shared cab with coworkers and reached home around 2am.

After bath and did laundry, I received a message from Ken mentioning that he will be late and was with polices due to bike's engine being stolen. I was surprised to read those news..but too tired to care more that time. Fast forward, we slept in till 12.30pm that Sunday. Ken explained the whole incident to me and I cried hard. This was the most devastating news for me that day. Our bike's engine being stolen and no CCTV footage at the area where he parked his bike. Polices will do their best to investigate and told us we were not first case there..several cases happened before too. No evidences, no witness, hopeless! Life was hard for me as we're trying to save $$$ yet something always got us to spend extra $$. After that, we learn that bike's engines are quite expensive whereas those thief can re-sell them for a few hundred bucks.

Ken was positive all the times. He believes everything happens for a good reason. He even comforted me by bringing me to movie - Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice. Meanwhile, our bike being towed to workshop and waiting for new engine to arrive which may take 2 weeks. Now, both of us travel via public transports whereas we need to wake up earlier than usual and spend more time in traveling.

This moments, I realized although bike may not be convenience during rainy day but it really save us more time and energy. And I will try to be as positive as Ken too :)

-Think positive, and positive things will happen-
